1. The Court plans to continue holding remote hearings when appropriate and/or necessary. Parties requesting an external hearing must submit their request (via the remote hearing form) at least one week before the scheduled hearing date, so that the presiding judge and magistrate can receive invitations to an external hearing from lawyers and litigants.

4. Do not allow your client to report to the court for a calendar meeting as we are trying to limit the number. If there is a plaintiff on the other side of your case coming to court for a timetable meeting, the court will allow them to be present in the courtroom to provide input in setting the court date.
This process is crucial to having an efficient and fluent calendar conversation. If you haven’t set a date to apply to the court, the judge may delay your motion until the calendar meeting is completed, which will adversely affect the priority of your case.
There will be exceptions for alimony, post-separation support, and temporary custody cases. If lawyers cannot choose a date for cases involving these issues, the judge will consider these cases when the judge hears the cases a second time.
But if the judge puts the case on the schedule, you won’t lose your spot on the calendar. Judges will mute lawyers to reduce noisy feedback and interruptions during the calendar call. When a judge opens a case, please enter the selected date in the chat box.
Of course, the court expects lawyers to pick their hearing date ahead of schedule. Effective Monday, March 16, we will not appear in court in Guilford County unless there is an emergency for civil action. Courtroom 2-B will operate normally for Ex Parte 50-B/50-C and their return.

Speak with the opposing attorney or plaintiff prior to the calendar meeting and have the agreed date available to enter the agreed court date in the chat box after your case is heard. Also, if you know the estimated time required to hear your case, add it to the chat box with your date.
5. The Court will consider all preparatory meetings externally. The court will also consider any requests for remote hearings regarding the cases scheduled for June. The court will hold a pre-conference to decide whether it is reasonable and possible to handle a case externally.
Remote hearings held throughout the June calendar will not be limited to previously ordered restrictions. If you are not available for the calendar meeting, please have a solicitor plan to attend the remote calendar meeting to present your agreed date to the court.
