Behrend Academic Calendar – The Commuter Meal Plan is available to campus apartment residents and student commuters; it is not required. Students wishing to make changes to the Commuter Meal Plan must contact the Campus Accommodation and Catering Services Office or, for University Parks, the id+ Office.

The purpose of the university’s academic advisory program is to help advisors identify and achieve academic goals, promote intellectual discovery, and encourage students to take advantage of educational opportunities in and outside the classroom to become themselves.

Academic Advising

Welcome to the Penn State Behrend campus, a beautiful 854-acre campus just minutes from the heart of Erie and the shores of Lake Erie, and within 100 miles of Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Buffalo. At Penn State Behrend, boredom is not an option, whether you live on campus in a residence hall, suite, or traditional apartment, or commute from a home or apartment near campus.

With over 140 student clubs and organizations as well as intramural sports, there is something for every student. A pedestrian bridge leads to Behrend Fields, home to the college’s athletic facilities, intramural fields, and a recently expanded disc golf course.

Other on-campus athletic facilities include the Junker Center, home to the college’s NCAA Division III teams, and, soon, a state-of-the-art student recreation and fitness area opening in 2023. Students on academic alert who can’t maintain an average of semester grades of 2.00 or higher will be academically suspended.

Students who are suspended from an academic point of view cannot program courses at the University for two consecutive semesters. (Note: One summer session equals one semester.) Students wishing to re-enroll at Penn State Behrend after an academic suspension must prepare a written statement requesting re-enrollment and submit the University Re-enrollment Form.

Total Minimum Credits

Students can check their meal plan balances online at idcard.psu.edu/manage-accounts. Your available balance also appears in your campus meal log and receipt, but note that the log shows your combined meal plan and LionCash account balance.

Hands-on experience is a hallmark of Behrend’s Open Lab learning, where students work alongside business, industry, and community partners. In one of the Open Lab projects, student researchers discovered an invasive species in the waters of Lake Erie in Pennsylvania.

The program includes several core courses in computer programming, algorithms, and computer systems. Additionally, the program offers a selection of advanced subjects for students to choose from for elective courses with concentrations in Cyber ​​Security, Artist Intelligence and Data Science, and Web Services and Applications.

Students will be required to analyze and solve important industry-sponsored computer problems in their final year. Combining careers and curiosities, the general education curriculum offers students the opportunity to acquire the transferable skills necessary for future success and growth while living in an interconnected environment.

A Vibrant Community

General education helps students develop intellectual curiosity, thinking skills, and a deeper sense of aesthetic appreciation. Benefits for attending include attending seminar-style honors classes, greater flexibility to pursue personal academic interests, priority scheduling, additional scholarship opportunities, and the ability to live in dedicated honors housing. Students who complete nine or more honors credits while maintaining a minimum cumulative grade point average receive an honors certificate.

Academic Suspension

Behrend’s superiors have many housing options to consider. Review available lodging options and associated room rates to determine which lodging option best fits your needs and budget. Room rates for each academic year are approved by the Board of Trustees in the spring prior to the start of the fall semester;

Annual rate increases are traditionally between 3 and 5%. Penn State is launching a new id+ card to expand the university’s digital campus initiative in support of One Penn State 2025. The new campus card will have an updated design and several new contactless features that create a user-friendly digital experience for the Penn State community.

Dining dollars remaining at the end of the summer term are carried over to the fall semester, and dining dollars remaining at the end of the fall semester are carried over to the spring semester, if the student has an active campus meal plan for both the fall semester and spring semesters, respectfully.

General Education

A typical career start for a B.S. in Computer Science graduates include application programmers, system programmers, system analysts, system administrators, and network administrators. You can also prepare for new careers in data science, cognitive computing, and artificial intelligence.

You can access your Campus Meal Plan account using your Penn State ID+ Card. Whenever you visit a Penn State Housing and Food Services operated food service facility, show your ID+ card to the cashier, who will swipe your card through the reader.

The reader will log into your account, deduct the exact purchase amount and display your new account balance. Integrative studies courses are required for the general education program. N is the suffix to the end of the course number used to specify Inter-Domain courses and Z is the suffix to the end of the course number used to specify related courses.

Honors At Penn State Erie The Behrend College

Students entering the workforce with a computer science degree will find many opportunities in business, industry, government and academia, and especially in organizations with a science emphasis. These include traditional and emerging careers such as applications programming, systems programming, systems analysis, systems administration, bioinformatics, network administration, and computer modeling.

The new entrepreneur Behrend B.S. Computer Science graduates include Amazon, Erie Insurance, Genesys, IBM, Larson Texts, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman. Students who cancel or end their relationship with the University after the start of the semester are eligible for reimbursement of residual meals and, for the Campus Meal Plan, a prorated reimbursement of the basic cost, within the time period indicated in the HFS Terms of the contract.

Campus Meal Plan

The “Swipe Out Hunger” campaign, a partnership between the University and the national Swipe Out Hunger organization, will run November 13-21 in conjunction with National Hunger and Hunger Week. You can enjoy Greek life, enhance your resume with an academic club or Behrend Honors program, give back to the community through a service organization, or embrace leadership skills as a resident assistant.

That’s all in addition to NCAA Division III athletics, concerts, movie nights, and Behrend’s famous “Midnight Bingo.” The Learning Resource Center helps students find, plan, and pay for learning experiences outside the United States. Can’t commit to a full year abroad?

No, the eLiving housing application process is only for current freshmen and above. Incoming first-year and transfer students can select on-campus housing, if available, when they receive an offer of admission through MyPennState or can add their name to the on-campus housing waitlist thereafter.
