DAS is granted on a case-by-case basis, although it is intended for guests who have difficulty tolerating long waits in normal queuing situations due to a disability.
It does not provide instant access to the ride, but instead gives guests and their party (up to 6 people) a return time for a specific experience, compared to the current wait time. This allows guests using DAS to enjoy another park experience instead of physically waiting in a waiting line.

Hi, we’re from Canada and WDW vets…this will be our 2nd time to DL (first time in 2008 – so it’s been a while). We are looking at the last week of February 2023, the last week of March or the second or last week of August 2023. Can you advise which would be better for smaller crowds (not sure when President’s Day is as we don’t know. Stay tuned for it in Canada).
What The Numbers Mean
You could say that gathering information and data for our crowd calendar has been a little more difficult given some recent events. We are constantly monitoring things and will provide necessary updates as new information becomes available.
Likewise, your sleeping habits will also make a difference here. If you’re a night owl, days with shorter hours might be a bad idea because you’ll find that you have a few hours to enjoy the park once you get out of bed.
On the other hand, if you are an early riser and usually want to leave the park by 7pm, a short/less busy day is a good time to visit. Be sure to check the Disneyland park schedule when planning your trip.
While this calendar is subject to change, it hasn’t changed nearly as much as the Walt Disney World calendar, which was almost never clear when it was first announced. Overall, we expect Disneyland crowds to be heavier through at least the first quarter of 2023. If you plan to visit for Spring Break 2023, you should be prepared for high crowd levels.

This is especially true for weekends, holidays and school breaks for local districts and nearby states. My family and I booked a trip to Disney California during Halloween week in October or Thanksgiving week in November.
I know the weather can vary, but does this time of the month usually have good weather, or is it hot or cold at this time? For example, we know that the first week of April 2023 will be busier than the third week of that month or the first week of May 2023. That’s because of spring break for major West Coast school districts around that time.
There are many weeks like this throughout the year, which we know will be better or worse according to various external influences. Our crowd calendar includes all of these districts, as their academic breaks and school schedules can significantly impact Disneyland attendance.

I just checked out 3 SoCal counties and they are all different on spring break this year. San Diego and Orange County are the last week of March, and LA is the second week of April, when we’ll be there.

I think this is good news for us, but we will see! We have just booked Under the “best time to visit” above you recommend the weekend in the last two weeks of August. However, weekdays don’t look busier on your calendar than weekends in the second half of August.
So I’m just wondering if there might be a difference in terms of the crowd, or is there another reason (maybe fireworks or something) that you suggest on the weekend? Hope that makes sense! Our first day should be August 21st as local schools seem to be back in session, but it’s not the first week either, so will August 21st-14th be busier than usual? Are there still fireworks at night or should we move our day to the weekend but the weekend will be busier?
Thanks for any advice! The end of October is a little better than the beginning of October. School holidays in AZ and UT really affect crowd levels in the first three weeks of October. Something to watch out for is the Oogie Boogie Bash party.

Disneyland Crowd Calendar Updates
In 2022, there will be an additional Saturday night on the weekend before Halloween. DCA closes early the night of the party, so you can start at the park the day of the party and then go to Disneyland if you have a bunker in the park.
If you want to attend the party, buy tickets ASAP if they sell out this summer. They sold out in 2022 in a matter of days! When block dates are cancelled, the park can be very busy with blocked passport holders, so it can be even more crowded than usual.
In summer, the fireworks are usually at night (*always depending on the weather) until the end of August, but if necessary, the entertainment can be rescheduled six weeks in advance (usually when this time is announced).
better check it out. moved to weekend visits. The Candlelight Parade will be held at Disneyland on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd weekends of December 2023. The parks are very crowded for this event. Then as the months go by and the kids are let out of school, you’ll see a big influx into the park.
Your Thoughts
After the new year it gets really busy until the kids go back to school. However, the biggest factor is the habits of local visitors. Disneyland and Disney California Adventure are always worse on crowded weekends.
Friday is especially bad because people have a long weekend and the SoCal ticket deals are unlocked. Sunday afternoons aren’t as bad as weekends – crowds tend to thin out as California tourists start to head home for the day, but the park stays open later than weekdays.
We are planning to go to Disneyland (4 day Park Hopper) September 5-12. Is Fantasmic on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday? We don’t want to miss out! Do you think it would be better to go to Universal Studios Hollywood on Monday the 11th?
It should also be noted that Disneyland has more entertainment scheduled on days with longer hours. Even in the shorter days and slower times of the year, Fantasmic and World of Color played to packed houses.
