the sweet tradition finds its roots in the teahouses of the Alamo City. No one knows when or how Enchilada Wednesday started, but mid-week kids can count on enchiladas on their lunch menu, and don’t forget the cornbread.
Las Palapas is budget friendly and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also, in its 40th year of operation since 1981, some menu items have been reduced to throwback prices. I’ve passed this restaurant for years but never been there before.

We finally decided to stop and are so glad we did. The food was hot, fresh and very tasty. I will be back soon… My husband and I had a great experience. Although they had very limited food options due to being closed for 2 weeks, the food was really good.
Our waiter was very nice and always smiling. I definitely recommend this restaurant. Today’s Las Palapas special is a $2.99 cheese enchilada plate with rice and beans. Enchiladas are hard to say no to any day of the week, but Wednesdays are a little different when you tuck into a pocket of cheese that wraps around a tortilla.

Las Palapas offers this type of special every Monday and Wednesday. The restaurant has 16 locations in the city. We learn from the company’s Facebook page that the road to Tezel area was closed for specific works on Monday and Tuesday.

The salsa is great and all the dishes are delicious. This is my family’s favorite place for good Mexican food at a reasonable price.
