Disneyland Crowd Calendar January 2023 – Other rides that typically undergo renovations in January are Splash Mountain and Grizzly River Run. But since these are two water rides and most guests have no desire to ride them in the colder months, this usually isn’t a big deal for many guests.
For restaurants with table service, my best advice is to book early (and often). It used to be that it wasn’t incredibly difficult to get reservations at Disneyland, except at a few popular restaurants, but they’re a lot harder in 2023.

For nearly a year, these were only available for renewal, except for a brief period of one day only when they sold out last fall. It’s unclear how many new Magic Keys have been sold since they became available again, but we’ve felt and seen the impact on crowds and attendance during our own visits to Disneyland in the winter of 2023.
After the first weekend of January and the end of the official holiday season, things calm down and crowd levels at the Disneyland Resort drop to their lowest levels of the year. You’d think that Disneyland would be a tempting target for those looking for something to do in January, but two things combine to make it an appealing trip: the weather and ride renovations.
In addition to the new shows, the Disney100 celebration brings new platinum-laced decorations throughout the resort, including two majestic water fountains on either side of the Sleeping Beauty Castle moat. Amazing new costumes, exclusive food and drink merchandise, and more for Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and their friends.

Reservations are also harder to obtain at table-service restaurants, and quick-service restaurants are increasingly encouraging customers to order via mobile. The Haunted Mansion and It’s a Small World each feature holiday overlays that transform both attractions.
The Haunted Mansion becomes the Haunted Mansion holiday, themed around “The Nightmare Before Christmas”. It’s a Small World “It’s a Small Holiday World” decked out with thousands of beautiful lights and the carol inside turns to Jingle Bells.
Master The Disneyland App
The holiday season runs from early November to January 6th. If you visit this first week of January, you’ll witness the end of the holiday season, including seasonal overlays for beloved rides, a Christmas-themed parade and fireworks display, the holiday show World of Color, and many wonderful holiday decorations

Crowd Notes
If arriving from, book flights to Disneyland. , Thanks for all the information! We plan to go in mid-August (birthday trip, no kids!) and spend four days at the parks. Our first day was supposed to be 21 August as it looks like local schools will be back in session – but it’s also the first week without a break so will this 21-14 August be busier than usual?
Will there still be fireworks at night or should we change our days to include the weekend but then the weekend will be even more crowded? Thanks for any advice you can share! For reservations, which park do you recommend starting with?
Should we start Day 1 (Tuesday during spring break) at Disneyland and Day 2 at California Adventure, or vice versa? My husband wants to make sure to attend Star Wars Rise of the Resistance. I just want to be ready when reservations open up.
Needless to say, there are a number of wildcards that make the Disneyland 2023 crowd calendar less reliable than typical years. All of this allows it to forecast congestion levels on specific dates extremely well in
advance.
Return Of Magic Happens Parade
What is possible is to offer estimates on specific date ranges relative to each other. Disneyland attendance and wait times are largely determined by tourist vacation habits (which are largely driven by school holidays and California travel trends), park hours (historical data exists for this), Anaheim Convention Center events, Los Angeles
and rely on the Orange County School District calendar. and some other variables. It’s more than just mobile ordering when it comes to the Disneyland app. It’s a backup for your theme park tickets, your Lightning Lane tickets (more on that later), your park passes, how to access your PhotoPass images, and more.
Disneyland has also tested it to verify stores by allowing customers to scan merchandise in the app. When the blackout dates are lifted, the parks may become very busy with passholders who have been blackouted, which may result in more crowds than usual.
Fireworks during the summer usually take place nightly until late August (*though still weather dependent), but it’s definitely best to check the six-week entertainment schedule in advance if you need it. Take (which usually happens when the time is displayed).
Low January Prices At Disneyland
Upgrade to a weekend trip. If you don’t want to queue for a ride (who does?), you have a lot to learn in 2023. Fastpass, Maxpass, Extra Magic Hour, Magic Morning, even virtual queues…. Most of the tricks and hacks we used to shorten lines in the days before the pandemic are gone.
Sunday and Friday are often the best days for shorter queues, while Saturday and Monday are the busiest. The most popular months are usually May, April and October, while September, August and January are generally quieter.

Downtown Disney
There is usually an overlap between the top 3 Southern California districts, meaning their breaks are much worse, but limited to a smaller portion of the overall schedule. Disneyland’s rush calendars can help, but I find them less reliable than ever, especially several months in advance.
Personally, I’d say it’s less important to try to play with the dates you’re going to try and hope for luck in smaller crowds than to do what works best for your itinerary. I know this is going to be a long post and you’re probably getting a lot of “please help me plan my trip” comments, but any tips and insights you can share would be greatly appreciated

The closer you get to peak meal times, the more customers will start placing their mobile orders. And the more the return time goes away (although it has improved somewhat). Disney has so many events and holidays that they are celebrating these days.
Mickey And Minnie’s Runaway Railway
It is important to be aware of these periods when planning your trip. Learn more about the normal start of each holiday period. or when other events such as food and wine festivals, grad nights, and after-hours events are scheduled throughout the year.
If you want to know when they’re turning Haunted Mansion or It’s a Small World into holiday overlays, all that info is on this post! Unlike Florida, Southern California has a fairly temperate climate. Typical hot weather is hot, but the humidity is not as bad as in Florida.
It can get chilly at night and in the winter months, but the weather isn’t as dreadful as in Florida. Blue skies and puffy clouds are rare in California, but overall the weather is more vacation-friendly than Walt Disney World.
Another factor that has a greater influence on Disneyland’s crowds than Disney World’s are the conventioneers. The Anaheim Convention Center is right across the street. What out-of-town visitor wouldn’t love coming in for an afternoon and evening soak in some Disney magic?
Disneyland Through The Seasons
It is generally not necessary to rearrange your vacation as a rule, but there may be an exception. Disney’s D23 expo, held every two years, attracts hordes of fans. These people plan to spend some of their hours playing in the parks before, during and after the expo.
The next D23 expo is scheduled for summer 2024. If school times require you to plan, chances are you’ll be leaving during one of the busiest times (or at least not one). year, as it is also a primary consideration for many other families planning a trip.

This may seem like a convenient time for your children to meet during one of the “holidays” outside of school, but it is important to determine if other schools have a similar holiday. In all honesty, most of October and November will be busy as the holidays are such a popular time of year!
If you arrive early each day, make restaurant reservations, and have a solid plan, you should be fine. Exciting new entertainment returns on February 24, 2023. I say new even though the Magic Happens Parade debuted in 2020, it only aired a few weeks before the parks closed.
Christmas In Disneyland![]()
In fact, I’ve never seen a parade. I got to see it 2 days after the parks
closed in 2020, so I’m very excited to see for myself this new parade that everyone is so excited about.
I love the musical and I can’t wait to see it in person soon! The parade will take place twice a day at 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 PM I noticed on some days in the first week of March it is 1:30 PM.
