Nichols’ DUI charge came after police received a call about an intoxicated man who came to a home on Wadsworth Street in Radford, near the intersection of Pershing Avenue. The man left in a black SUV, the caller said.

The university did not announce a suspension for Nicholas. But it named his older brother and assistant coach Shane Nichols as acting head coach on February 21. Harriet is a biology professor at New River Community College. Together and with the help of illustrators Carolyn Turner and Cindy Moore, they have published a book about children with disabilities and the many gifts they have despite the challenges they face.
