Kannapolis History Associates will meet at 7 p.m. with a program by Chick Suggs, owner and manager of “Lees Sandwich Shop,” who will share the history of this Kannapolis icon that opened in 1949. The meeting is at A.L. High School.

The box office opens 45 minutes before the screening. OCT is on Spring Street in Concord. The Salvation Army Women’s Aid organization will hold a League of Mercy workshop at 9:30 a.m. to provide services to nursing home residents.

The workshop will be held at the Cabarrus County Salvation Army headquarters at 216 Patterson Ave SE, Concord, NC 28025. Visitors are welcome to attend, as are members of the Ladies’ Auxiliary. Used books are being sold, and the proceeds will be used to buy new books for the Angel Christmas Tree project.

The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary of Cabarrus and Stanly Counties (SAWA) along with SHOE SHOW, INC. will hold a Souper Bowl fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. After a two-year hiatus due to COVID, the 2023 Souper Bowl will be at a new location, Central United Methodist Church, 30 Union Street North, Concord, NC 28025. Tickets are $10 and include soup, cookies, brownie and drink. The Women’s Auxiliary will have a cake and treasure sale. Funds from the Souper Bowl are used to support our various programs, including some shelter expenses and the Christmas Angel Tree Program.
